Pop Star

Thanks again to all you Pledgers! We’re at 206% as we write this, which, in four days, is astounding. Wow! It doesn’t end here, the more people pledge, the better we can make our album. Don’t think we’re joking when we’re talking about gospel choirs and string sections.

It also means that we think we can now afford to record the LP in what we think is the best studio in the North, with an amazing producer, so that’s pretty exciting. Still to be confirmed, but fingers crossed.

To say cheers to everyone who’s got involved, to try and drag more people to the party, and to generally Have A Laugh, here’s our new video for a song called Pop Star that we did.

We don’t like to beg, but if you’re that way inclined, please feel free to share it about on your Facebooks and your Twitters and so on. As ever, we rely on the goodness of you people to share this stuff about. Okay, we are begging. Spread the word!

The video was made by our wonderful friends at AshTV. Once again, they have pulled it out the bag with this fantastic effort. Thank you so much to Ash and Richy for being so great. Go and have a look at their website, which has loads of examples of brilliant stuff they’ve done.

The song was recorded at Cottage Road Studios in sunny Headingley, Leeds, where it was mixed and produced by Andy Hawkins and Chris Catalyst. Thanks to Andy for his hard work, patience and endless tea.

We’ve got gigs this weekend in Birmingham (Friday) and Worcester (Saturday), where we’ll be playing this and a couple of other new bits, and selling you new t-shirts, hopefully.

Hope to see some of you there, and cheers again for being so nice.

Eureka Machines #3 Hits 167% in a day! Crumbs!

Hello all,

As we’ve said in about six billion internet places now, thank you all for your help in smashing our target and making it so we can record our third album. We are so very grateful to you all for making us realise that we shouldn’t knock it on the head and go work in Tescos or something.

There were a couple of little gremlins with the launch. In the T-shirt bundle, there was no XXL version of the Champion The Underdog shirt. This has now been rectified. If anyone wants to swap an order, get in touch with Cecelia on the ‘Ask A Question’ on your Dashboard thingy and she’ll sort you out.

Also, for a little while after the launch, our Pledge pitch video remained private, due to some YouTube problem. It’s back up now:

We’d really appreciate it if you shared this about on your Facebooks, Twitters and MySpaces (in 2006). The more people who come to the party, the more crisps and pop we can offer round everyone.

As a thank you to you lot for being so brilliant, we’re going to launch a COMPLETELY NEW VIDEO on Monday for a COMPLETELY NEW SONG called Pop Star (which you hear a snippet of on the Pledge Pitch Video). Stay tuned to our website and Facebook for more info. It was made by our award-winning friends at AshTV, who have pulled out all the stops to make undoubtedly Eureka Machines’ (and, in our opinion, AshTV’s) best work yet. We’ll be asking you to spread this like ebola come next week, so get involved if you’re into all of that.

We’ll be playing this song, and a couple of the other new tunes, at the upcoming gigs, which are:

02/11/12     Birmingham The Asylum (with Drag)
03/11/12     Worcester Marr’s Bar (with Joe Patroni and Blacklist Saints)
09/11/12     Hull The New Adelphi (with Velvet Star)
10/11/12     Darlington The Forum (with Lost Rockers)
16/11/12     Doncaster The Leopard
17/11/12     Leeds Empire (Chris Catalyst acoustic set for MS Society Fundraiser, on at 8pm. Also playing are The Scaramanga Six, MonMon and Esper Scout).

Here’s the important bits you need:

Thank you again for your continued support. Please don’t stop spreading the word, you lot are our rock scene, PR machine and magazines. That almost rhymes, in a really crap way.

Lots of love and respect and no tongues,
Chris, Dave, Pete and Wayne – Eureka Machines. X

PS The eagle-eared of you may know that Chris from EM has been on tour in Ginger Wildhearts’ band, supporting Slash for the past few weeks. We gave Slash a CD. He said ‘it is brilliant, totally not what I was expecting. It’s heavy, but pop… it’s like… heavy pop!’ Home tomorrow. X

EUREKA MACHINES ARE NOT DEAD.

Hello there,

Eureka Machines album 3

We are immensely pleased to announce the launch of the long-awaited EUREKA MACHINES PLEDGE CAMPAIGN.

http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/eurekamachines

If you’re not aware of the new-fangled PledgeMusic website, it is a way for bands like us to sell their music directly to their fans, followers and friends, cutting out the middle man and providing top-quality content for top-quality people. The idea is that we set a target for the amount of money we need to raise in order to record our album, and you ‘pledge’ to buy different stuff from us to raise the cash. You can buy signed CDs, exclusive t-shirts, handwritten, framed lyrics and we’ll even write you a song, if you fancy it. Or you can just buy the record. It’s basically like ‘pre-order’ing, only with a slightly longer lead-in time.

Once we reach our target, we can make our album. The more money we raise, the posher we can make the record, so if we smash our target, expect strings and choirs and gorgeous artwork and so on. The idea isn’t (and never has been) to make a load of money for ourselves – the idea is to make the best possible record for you guys that we can. So please get involved if you’re up for it.

People who Pledge can expect exclusive access to stuff like video tour diaries, exclusive new tracks, online gigs and, of course, to get the album way before it hits the shops.

We’re aiming for you to get your hands on the finished article by March 1st 2013.

The other important thing is that we are donating 10% of EVERYTHING we raise to our friend, occasional colleague and oftentimes musical inspiration TIM SMITH of the band CARDIACS, who in 2008 suffered a simultaneous heart attack and stroke and as such is in need of constant medical care and attention. There have been a bunch of tribute concerts (and of course a brilliant – and still available – tribute album) to raise money for Tim, and this is the way we feel we can contribute. Chris from Eureka Machines has done a few things with Tim, not least his favourite ever tour (God Damn Whores supporting Cardiacs in 2007), and hopes that everyone is up for getting involved in this, whether they like Cardiacs or not.

Also, as you can see, we are now sporting a shiny all-new website. It’s not 1000% complete yet, but it’s more or less there. Have a skeg. Thanks as always to our wonderful webguru Damian Tichborne for all his hard work on it. We love you Damo.

Got some gigs coming up to celebrate. They are:

  • Friday 2 November 2012 – The Asylum, Birmingham | venue

That’s about it for now. Get in touch if you’ve any questions. This one is for all of us.
