Couple of newsy bits... Tickets for our Leeds Album #2 Fundraiser are on sale now, and are going like hot cakes. Well, warm-ish biscuits. Get them here.

Second, if you are a Facebook type, go here and join up to try help us get on Download this year. The organisers of Download are aware of us, and they like us, they just need to know that people want to see us there, which they do. Once again (and I know I always prattle on about this) we need your help, because we are on our own here. Please join the group, and tell your pals about us, and then maybe some of the Bigger Boys will get involved. If you are a person who goes on the Download forums, go here to tell them we are great:

Thank you as always. We start recording Album #2 this weekend. Be excited. We are.

Our mate Gav from Round Records has put this together. Please have a read and download it if it looks like the sort of thing you are interested in. Which you will be.

Upon arriving back in the UK last week at Heathrow (and being a little too wrapped up in seemingly important things like whether the plane would land in the snow or if my train would be running) I was immediately greeted and numbed by the horrific and shocking news reports that followed after the Haiti Earthquake. As the magnitude of the disaster continues to grow by the day, I was very keen (like most people) to do 'something'.

Thus 'The Haiti Project' - a charity download album - was born. Within a few days of sending emails and calls to my nearest and dearest friends an album quite literally 'came together'.

The album is spearheaded by the anthemic debut track from 'The Sonic Graffiti', a new band from LA put together by Ginger Wildheart, Billy Morrison, Michael Butler & Scott Lipps. The track entitled 'Mystery Number' was recorded at Matt Sorum's studio in August 2009 & was produced by the legendary Mike Clink.

I'd like to personally say a big thank you to Ginger, Billy, Michael, Scott & Mike for donating this exclusive track, and allowing 'The Haiti Project' to (hopefully) raise even more money.

The tracklisting is as follows...

  1. The Sonic Graffiti – Mystery Number (Exclusive)
  2. Eureka Machines – Being Good Is Okay, But Being Better's Better
  3. Electric Six – Newark Airport Boogie
  4. Jackdaw 4 – Jesus Wants My Soul Back
  5. The Loyalties – Sofa Surfin’ UK (Acoustic)
  6. Antiproduct – When We Find Love
  7. The Organ Beats – Happy Birthday/Come On Home
  8. The Wildhearts – Unbroken
  9. Tragedy:All Metal Tribute To The Bee Gees – Nights On Broadway
  10. Radio Dead Ones – Take It On Trust
  11. Ricky Warwick – Love Owes
  12. Brijitte West (Feat. Jesse Malin) – How To Be Good
  13. Moi? – This Is All That I Wanted
  14. Laika Dog – Piano Song
  15. Sorry & The Sinatras – Riverside
  16. Children of The Unicorn – Nightshark
The download album is going to cost just £5.

16 songs for £5!!

All of the money will be donated directly to the ongoing relief efforts and you'll end up with 16 great tracks. Good deal.

Get it here.

Check us out - we're in Spin Magazine, a very popular American publication which obviously has good taste. Here's a scan.

The other news is that we've got two nominations in this year's Pure Rawk Awards, for which we'll be playing at the Awards Ceremony in March. The nominations are for Best Band and Best Frontman, and you can vote on the Pure Rawk website. Go and vote for us (please).

Keep your eyes on the website for a few days to see our New Year's Honours List. Thanks to all those who downloaded our single and donated us some money. It was much appreciated.

Oh, and Happy New Year. We have a good feeling about 2010.
Eureka Machines. X

20/12/2009

The tour with Electric Six is over. We had a fantastic time. Every gig was a sell-out or thereabouts, every gig was a whole heap of fun. Huge thanks to the Electric Six guys, who are one of the nicest (and best) bands in the world, and their intrepid tour manager Steve, also a top and helpful chap. Also thanks to all our new friends and everyone who bought something off us - we sold shedloads of albums, so thank you for that.

We've put up the Silent Night download again for your free delectation, feel free to spread the Christmas love. (NB: taken down now Christmas is over, but you can still get it via iTunes, Amazon etc...)

Have a top Christmas.
EM.

30/11/2009

We're heading out on tour with Electric Six later this week. We start in Glasgow, and call in at loads of other places on the way. Check the gigs page to see where, and come say hello. We're doing a special set for these gigs, involving a Christmas classic, so it'd be nice to see some folks down the front singing along.

In the meantime, follow us on Twitter (and tell your friends on there too!) to keep up-to-date with the latest rock and roll action direct from the road - like what pasty Wayne Insane has gone for at the services, what time Chris has finally deigned to get out of his bed and who's doing the worst farts out of Dave and Pete. We really are the least rock and roll band in the world, but we're funny, so get involved.

Hope to see you at the gigs, it's costing us a bastard fortune as we're (some might say foolishly) making the trip over to do the Dublin gig, which is costing us around five times as much as we're getting paid, so please buy a shirt and/or an album, help support your local friendly starving band. Most bands wouldn't bother with the Dublin date... but we're not most bands.

Touring, touring... s'never boring.

Lots of love,
Eureka Machines.

01/11/2009

Hello all,

A few good things happening with us. First up, we're on the front cover CD of Classic Rock magazine this month, and it's very good and you get a free mouse mat too. So that's nice. They've picked The Story of My Life. (A few people have been asking how much we paid to get on it, and likewise, how much we paid to get on the Electric Six tour, the answer is nothing, we don't do anything for free, and neither should you or your band. We don't do buy-ons, it's not fair on anyone.)

Anyway... in other news, the Nottingham gig on Friday 6th November has moved venues to The Central, and Laika Dog are no longer playing on Sunday 8th November in Worcester, so it's now gone down to £6 on the door. We'll be doing loads of stuff we haven't done before at both, so anyone who's already seen our set will hopefully get something new out of it.

Tickets are also going very fast for the gig at The Well in Leeds. It's with Dinosaur Pile-Up, who are doing very well at the moment, so tickets are going like the proverbial hot cakes. Be sure to get hold of one as this will almost certainly sell out.

In other news, we've added a forum to our website now, so get on there and get involved. There's already a few folk signed up, so please get on there and get chatting and forumming or whatever it is that you kids do.

We're going to leave the Being Good Is Okay tracks up on the site for a little longer, but not much longer. So get 'em downloaded asap. Thanks to the people who have been kind enough to donate some cash to us for the single - it really makes us smile. We are incredibly lucky. Thank you.

PS. Buy a poppy, and be careful on Bonfire Night.

x

01/10/2009 - London gig cancelled

We are sorry to tell you that our London date has been cancelled. There was a double-booking by the venue, and as ever we've drawn the short straw. Sorry to those who'd made travel plans, as we know that there are some. We'll be back in London on the Electric Six tour, on the 17th December, and then again hopefully some time in the early New Year. Immensely sorry, but this was out of our hands.

20/09/2009

We are immensely pleased to tell you that we will be supporting Electric Six on their upcoming UK tour. It's not until December, so plenty of time to be saving up for your tickets.

The dates are:

  • Saturday 5th December - Dublin Academy
  • Monday 7th December - Liverpool Academy
  • Tuesday 8th December - Sheffield Academy
  • Wednesday 9th December - York Duchess
  • Thursday 10th December - Manchester Academy
  • Friday 11th December - Newcastle Academy
  • Saturday 12th December - Birmingham Academy
  • Monday 14th December - Hastings Crypt
  • Tuesday 15th December - Brighton Concorde 2
  • Wednesday 16th December - Bristol Academy
  • Thursday 17th December - London Islington Academy
  • Saturday 19th December - Oxford Academy

Ticket links can be found on the gigs page. Thanks to Gav for his help with this and thanks to Electric Six for taking a chance on us.

In other news, you can see an interview with us by the lovely Alastair from Underkill TV here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujyTSS4N9G0

And finally, thanks a million to all for downloading and donating for our 'single'. We'll leave them up for a bit longer so please pass the word around your friends. Cheers.

Keep in touch,
EM.

02/09/2009

Hello again,

After a Summer of fun festivals and new friends, it's time to do some gigs again. And we're going to give you a present, too. We decided we'd put out a new single in September, that track Being Good Is Okay, But Being Better's Better, but instead of going through the whole rigmarole of releasing it properly, we thought we'd give it a bash just giving you it for free (or donation, if you wish) and trying to spread the word that way. No-one buys physical singles anymore, people just download them, so we just thought we'd lob it up on here and the usual digital distributors. There's also a video for the track here which is directed by the wonderful Paul Morricone at Poison Pen Films (Graham Coxon, Young Knives, Funeral For A Friend etc).

It's a double A-side with an all-new track called Living In Squalor, which we think takes all the best bits from Queens Of The Stone Age and, err, Queen, and chucks it all together in a chunky amphetamine singalong. At five and a half minutes, I don't thnk Jo Whiley's going to be playing it any time soon, but it shows off our musical muscle and rocks the proverbial.

So you can download it for absolutely nothing. From now. Have it. There's mp3s and lossless FLACs available, download the one that you like to use. If you want to make a donation to us for the songs, you can via the PayPal link, but don't feel obliged, if you're skint, or just don't want to pay for it. The objective with these free downloads is simply to spread the word of our band a bit more, so just tell your friends. Spread it on your Facebook, or on Twitter, or whatever really. We just want people to get the tracks so they come to our gigs, which you can look at on our gigs page. Then we're taking most of November out to record our next album, then more touring in December. Hooray.

We appreciate your support as always, so thanks to all who put our video on their Facebook or tweeted about it or whatever the kidz are doing these days. Keep it up there now that other people can actually download the tunes! And we hope to see you at some of the gigs. We'll be doing a bunch of new songs at the upcoming gigs, so we hope you like them. See you there.

So to sum up:

Love,
EM.

02/08/2009

There's been a few new gigs added lately, including one in York on Friday at Fibbers, bizarrely supporting Sigue Sigue Sputnik (£4 with a flyer). We're also in Hull Thursday and at the fab Moor Music Festival on Friday night - 11pm on the SoundPeople stage. And then with Ginger and a load more others at Seven (formerly Junktion 7) in Nottingham on Saturday. There are very few tickets left for this, so get in while you can. Same with The Stranglers support in Holmfirth - get involved.

Hope to see you at a gig!
EMx

20/07/2009

Last-minute gig news - we've been added to the Wickerman Festival in Scotland this Friday. Headlined by The Human League and The Zutons, and also featuring Idlewild, The Magic Numbers, Utah Saints and Billy Bragg. We're on the Scooter Stage on Friday evening, time to be 100% confirmed asap, but probably 6.30pm. Headlining the Scooter Stage is The Dickies and UK Subs, so it's gonna be a pretty raucous punk rock do. There are still a very limited amount of tickets available, so if you fancy it, get involved. I went to the Wickerman Festival with Marky Ramone a few years back and it was top, so we're looking forward to it. If you know anyone going to the fest, please tell them, as we're a late addition and we want people to know that we're coming - that goes for forums and so on too. Cheers!

14/07/2009

Our first stadium gig has been postponed unfortunately, due to problems with the PA (there isn't one) and the fact that it's forecast thunder and lightning for Friday. Fear not, Garforth fans - we're gonna do it another time.

Also, we've added some free Eureka Machines downloadable mp3 ringtones to the site, mainly because a few people asked us about them. We could sell you them, but we're nice, so you can have them. Go to the Ringtones section and download to your heart's content. There's some weird bits in there too.

EMx

13/07/2009

Another festival down, and we're really enjoying the summer... Guilfest was immense, we got down Friday and watched four fantastic bands - Motorhead, The Stranglers, Ginger and Tragedy: An All-Metal Tribute To The Bee Gees. A great line-up, a great site, and a lot of friendly people!

Our gig on the Saturday evening was great too - thanks to everyone for coming along. A special mention and a big sorry goes to Harry and the Juggling Crew, who we completely forgot to mention from the stage. Chris was going to break into an impromptu juggle-off, but time was tight and we didn't get chance. We hope you had a great festival. Cheers to Mal and Chris for looking after us.

A couple of new gigs have been added - a free festival in Doncaster with The Magic Numbers, Go:Audio and others. We'll be on in the afternoon. And we've been invited by the powers-that-be to play at Garforth Town AFC's game against Leeds United this coming Friday - we'll be playing before the game and at half-time. Which will be quite a bizarre experience.

More gigs to come in September and October, and a single release (with new B-sides!) too. Watch this....... space.

EMx

06/07/2009

Our first two festivals of the Summer have been a whole heap of fun. Thanks to all in South Shields and Leicester who came to see us, we had a blast. Many thanks also to Mugshot and Goldblade for letting us share their gear.

Couple more bits - we're on at Guilfest on Saturday, which will be ace - and there's still time to get your tickets. We've also added a new gig which we're very excited about - supporting The Stranglers at Holmfirth Picturedrome on Wednesday 12th August. Tickets are expensive but you can get them on the Picturedrome site.

Also our pal Ginger has been added to headline the Trashstock at Seven (formerly Junktion 7) on Saturday 8th August. Again, you can get your tickets from their site. This WILL sell out so get your tickets early.

We've also finally got ourselves a van, which will make life a whole lot easier now.

Hooray
EMx

20/06/2009

Festival fever has hit the UK, and Eureka Machines are no exception. Here's some of the festies we've been confirmed for:

If you want us on any other festivals, spam forums, e-mail promoters, and generally hassle people to get us on bills. The only power we have left is people power, so any hassle you guys can give people is much appreciated.

In other news... there is no other news.

EMx

22/05/2009

We're delighted to tell you that our song Do Or Die has been selected for Track Of The Day on Classic Rock magazine's website. They seem to like us. You can see the page here:

http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/track-of-the-day-eureka-machines/

Where you can also download (for free) the song... but you've got it already, right? Right?

21/05/2009

We're playing at DOLLAR$ FOR DEADBEAT$ on Sunday night. It's a benefit for Roger from Sorry and The Sinatras, who is stuck in the UK after the Sorry and The Sinatras/Eureka Machines tour was postponed. So a few of us are getting together to try and raise some cash for him to get home.

We're doing a set, then an all-star line-up are doing a covers set to close the evening. Including appearances from Dave and Roger from Sorry and The Sinatras, Ginger (The Wildhearts), Acey Slade (Murderdolls), Rich Jones (Amen/The Loyalties), Tom Spencer (Yo Yos/The Loyalties), Chris McCormack (3 Colours Red), Jorma Vik (The Bronx) and Eureka Machines' own Chris Catalyst. It's only three quid in and all proceeds go to a good cause - feeding one of our own.

Doors at 9.30pm. Get there early.

(Click here for Facebook group link)

18/05/2009

You can now download and print out a flyer (four, actually) for our London gig on 30th May with The Loyalties, Shush and The Scaramanga Six. It's on our Help page. Feel free to print a few out and chuck them about your local rock emporia. It gets you in for a quid cheaper, and crucially guarantees that we get a little bit of cash from the gig too, so we can get home and eat and stuff.

14/05/2009

Balls. The tour starting on Friday is off. Sorry and The Sinatras have had to pull out, and it wouldn't be feasible for us to do it alone from a promoter's point of view. We're sorry to anyone who bought tickets - return them to point of purchase for a refund - and anyone who'd planned travel (we know there were a few of you at least).

In slightly better news, we've salvaged a couple of the dates. The Huddersfield show will go ahead with us headlining, and we've sorted another gig in Manchester for this coming Saturday night at an alternative venue. Up to date info can be found on the gigs page as ever.

Here's a statement from Sorry and The Sinatras:

It is with deep and sincerest regret that Sorry And The Sinatras must postpone their forthcoming UK tour at the 11th hour.

The decision has arisen due to operational tour problems which are entirely beyond the band's control.

Says frontman Scott Sorry: "I have never cancelled a show in my life and words cannot express the disappointment of this news. We are gutted and truly sorry to all we have let down. We'll be making it up to everyone this Summer - fear not!"

The band are already rescheduling shows to coincide with exciting Summer festival news - due to be announced very soon.
Hopefully we can get involved on some of the rescheduled dates. Condolences to the S&TS lads, we know how much they were up for the tour. Some things just can't be helped, though.

Fuck our luck.

04/05/2009

Our single Everyone Loves You (WRATHCD51) is OUT NOW! You can buy it on our Shop page, on iTunes and the usual download sites, and also from Crash, Jumbo, Norman's and Rhythm (if you're in Leeds). We're also selling it at the slew of upcoming gigs, and it's only three quid.

Most importantly, we're releasing this to try and get some decent airplay for our band, to try and make more people come and see us (clever, eh?). So please bombard your local, national and international rock radio and music television stations with requests to hear it.

We hope you like it. Thanks for all your support. We hope to see you at one of the many gigs coming up. Take care of yourselves. And May The Fourth Be With You. (Sorry.)

EMx

28/04/2009

Okay, so it's that time... we've finally got our arses into gear and we're releasing a single. It's the track Everyone Loves You (Wrath Records, WRATHCD51) from our album, which you all should know about by now. See the video on NME TV here - and buy it for just THREE QUID on our shop page. Three quid! That's basically a pint! (Or a half in London.)

It's backed up with an all-new song called The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall, an acoustic version of The Story Of My Life and a raucous live version of our set-opener Scream Eureka. It's basically been done as an introduction to Eureka Machines, and we're doing it to try and get some press and airplay for our band.

Which is where YOU come in.

As an utterly independent, shockingly skint and frankly uncool bunch of Northern oiks, we are on our own here. So you could help us out by requesting your favourite radio stations around the country and asking them to play us out on their shows. We don't have the press and label backing of our major counterparts, and you showing a little support and solidarity will go a long way, because no-one got anywhere without a bit of People Power.

Here's some people you can get in contact with who I reckon might play us out if they get a few e-mails...

zane.lowe[at]bbc.co.uk
huw.stephens[at]bbc.co.uk
vic[at]bbc.co.uk
punk.show[at]bbc.co.uk
robdabank[at]bbc.co.uk
steve.lamacq[at]bbc.co.uk
introducing.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
bruce.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
george.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
lauren.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
marc.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
shaun.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
lamacq.6music[at]bbc.co.uk
john.kennedy[at]xfm.co.uk
ian[at]xfm.co.uk

I know it looks like a lot, and frankly it is, but you don't have to mail all of them. You could even do that BCC thing with your e-mail... We're not suggesting you do or anything.

Meanwhile, if you're an internetty webhead type, then feel free to tell the 'net about us on forums and the like. Word of mouth is, after all, the best kind of publicity. The more people who get to hear about us, the more people will come to our gigs, which means we can all have more fun together. And the sooner we can retire to our country cottages on the south-west coast making ornamental figurines of political leaders from around the globe past and present.

We're supporting the single release with a tour around the UK, with our mates Sorry And The Sinatras. Go and see the dates and think about booking the morning after off work. It will be very cool indeed.

Thank you, as always, for your support.
